Applications owned, delivered, and managed by a provider whether via licensing or consumption. SaaS creates security gaps with limited visibility to unsanctioned or when SaaS is delivered wholly apart from IT management or security programs. SaaS delivers software based on one set of common code and data definitions that is consumed in a one-to-many model by all contracted customers at anytime on a pay-for-use basis or as a subscription based on use metrics, or through licensing models for premier features delivered via cloud services based on license entitlement and user permissions.
